This new off Broadway musical, Sistas, centers on a family preparing to bury the matriarch of the family. These women discuss their family history and the history of African-American women through popular music that spans from the era of Billie Holiday’s music through Beyoncé. After the matriarch’s death, the women in the family clean their grandma’s attic and find some treasures which restore the love and memories that have been packed away. Some musical hits that you will hear include; “Oh Happy Day,” “Mama Said,” Gloria Gaynor’s ever-famous, “I Will Survive,” “Tyrone,” and “ A Woman’s Worth.”
