On Thursday, December 12th, Spring Creek Senior Partners (SCSP) reined in the holidays with a festive party in the Brooklyn Sports Club’s (BSC) gymnasium. “Our theme for this event is diamonds; we want our seniors to shine bright like diamonds,” said event organizer and HUD Service Coordinator, Denise Ruiz.
An assortment of jovial music reverberated around the gymnasium as a large crowd of seniors gathered around dozens of tables while others danced and laughed together. Some attendees dressed in red and green, while others donned celebratory sweaters with Santa Claus, dreidels and other caricatures indicative of the season.
This annual party is one of many social events hosted by SCSP to help underscore the benefits of companionship. “When it comes to seniors we often see isolation, loneliness, sadness, and depression. Being able to attend this event or any other outdoor activity offers the seniors the privilege to see and interact with others, to feel better, and to better understand their role in society,” SCSP Director, Ronald Jean said.
There was pure happiness emanating from each guest as they reveled in the festive music, dined on delicious catered food, and participated in raffles. The ability to chat with friends and receiving presents were some of the many highlights of this jolly affair.
