NY State Committeewoman, Nikki Lucas along with The People First Democratic Club, held a forum for Kings County Civil Court Judge Candidates and District Attorney Candidates on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC). This allowed Spring Creek Towers’ residents an opportunity to meet and ask questions to the Democratic Candidates who are running for Brooklyn District Attorney and meet and learn about candidates running for Kings County Civil Court Judge.
Attendees and speakers were were invited by State Committeewoman Nikki Lucas to attend this event which enabled the candidates a chance to meet residents, constituents, and allow the people to get to know who they are and why they are running for their respective offices.
The candidates spoke about their backgrounds and explained why they would be the best suited person for the position that they are running for. Often times, when people go to vote they do not always know about the people they are voting for, sometimes they leave sections blank on the ballot if they do not recognize the names of the candidates. This forum was beneficial so, that residents can put a face to the ballot names while learning about the candidate’s platform. Sometimes, the candidate’s background is impressive and if people are unaware of it, a highly qualified person might not be elected to a position that they might be suited for.
Candidates for Brooklyn’s District Attorney
This forum allowed questions to be asked of the potential Brooklyn District Attorney candidates and had a time limit to answer the questions to ensure that each one could have a fair opportunity to answer each question. Questions were either emailed prior to the forum or were written down on index cards that were handed out at the beginning of the forum and given in to be asked.
