Last week, Spring Creek Senior Partners’ (SCSP) staff and volunteers donned red outfits in honor of National Wear Red Day, (February 6) a campaign created by the American Heart Association (AHA) to spread awareness and end heart disease and stroke in women. According to the AHA, “one in three women die of heart disease and stroke each year.”
In keeping with the theme, SCSP volunteer Rafael Viera made small red ribbons for clients to wear and handed out pamphlets with “Healthy Heart Tips” for seniors. SCSP Director Theodora Ziongas decided to participate in this event because she wants seniors to be diligent in preventing heart disease. Every week SCSP holds an indoor walking group to help keep seniors heart healthy.
