JASA Kicks Off Holidays with a Birthday Bash

On December 18th, JASA Starrett Senior Center kicked off the holiday season with their quarterly birthday party in the lower level of the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC) to celebrate the wonderful lives of their members born in October, November and December.

Every few months, this much anticipated event allows seniors to gather together to celebrate life with their friends. JASA Director Angela Blyakher always makes sure to host these parties because she believes that these frequent festivities uplift morale and provide older adults with the opportunity to share stories about themselves, socialize with friends, and dance.

For this pre-holiday event, Blyakher enlisted the musical talents of DJ Mike Minsky. Whether a JASA member needed to use a walker or suffers from chronic aches, all signs of age were nowhere to be found at the party as the seniors danced the afternoon away. The ambiance was joyful and bright, just like the faces of everyone in attendance.

The following week, JASA hosted their annual holiday party celebrating: Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Three Kings Day, and the New Year.
