This is Yeezus season! Music artist turned fashion designer and creative director, Kanye West, also known as “Yeezus or Yeezy,” recently released the name and cover art to his seventh album, ‘So Help Me God’.
West’s upcoming album is his first release in almost two years. The project features the Paul McCartney-assisted single “Only One” as well as “Wolves” featuring Sia and Vic Mensa. Last week, West released the album’s third single, “All Day” featuring Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom and Paul McCartney. He premiered the record during his performance at last month’s BRIT Awards 2015 at the 02 Arena in London, where he performed the song with a number of US Rappers and UK Grime MC’s including Novelist, Skepta, Wiley, Kreprt & Konan, Stormzy, Fekky, Theophilus London and Vic Mensa.
Although his album does not have a release date as of yet, West confirmed with New York’s radio station, Power 105.1’s ‘Breakfast Club’ that the album is “80% done and will feature bars (a Hip-Hop word used to describe hard lyrics) and “music that just feels good.” He added, “The album’s just embracing the music, embracing joy, and just being of service to the people.”
Recording Artist Turned Fashion Designer
Last month at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), West presented his highly anticipated Adidas collection at Skylight Clarkson Square in Manhattan. The show included a performance created by artist Vanessa Beecroft, who worked with West in the past (on the Yeezus tour, the Runaway film and his ‘808’s and Heartbreak’ album listening event). The presentation was broadcasted live across the globe at various theaters in Australia, Canada, Spain, Russia, France and the United Kingdom.
At his Kanye West x Adidas show, he said, “I’m here to crack the pavement. I want to create something better for you.” For the show, 50 models of all races, shapes and sizes walked and posed on the runway in a military position. Kanye said the collection came together in the shadow of the 2011 London riots.
His wife, Kim Kardashian-West, daughter, North West, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Diddy, Cassie, Big Sean, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Vogue’s editor-inchief Anna Wintour all sat in the front row at the show.
During Paris Fashion Week, the Grammy Award winning music artist performed at an impromptu concert inside of the auditorium at Foundation Louis Vuitton. At the concert, he also premiered the official visual for the Steve McQueen-directed “All Day”.
The Kanye West x Adidas Fall 2015 collection will be available later this year, his Yeezy 750 Boost sneakers were released this past February and sold out quickly.
Stay tuned for all of West’s upcoming releases this year.
