On June 14th, the Starrett Early Learning Center (SCELC) held their pre-kindergarten stepping-up ceremony in the Brooklyn Sports Club’s (BSC) gymnasium. The students were dressed to impress as they prepared for the next step of their education, kindergarten.
The children marched into the BSC gymnasium with their hands in the air, singing along to Tao’s “Dynamite.” Parents and family members were in stitches as they watched the little ones shimmy and shake to the music with such pizzazz. The group of four and five year olds also sang songs about their expectations of kindergarten, the life cycle of a butterfly, and what it means to graduate.
The entire event was an uplifting experience with lots of music, dancing and a few tears from parents who were proud of their children. The students received diplomas, the teachers earned certificates of appreciation, and a host of parents were acknowledged for their continuous involvement.
