On Tuesday, June 20th, parents, and family members of students from Frederick Douglas Academy VIII (FDA VIII) gathered at the South Shore Educational Complex in anticipation of their child’s graduation.
This wasn’t an ordinary graduation, there was a poem recited, along with a musical presentation, a dance performance, awards and diploma presentation. Yes, all of this at an eighth grade graduation!
Mistress of Ceremony, Ms. Rhone welcomed everyone. Salutatorian, Diamond Wilkinson, addressed the Class of 2017 and she was followed by Elijah Francis’ recital of a poem. After the poem was read to the students there was a dance performance by the Senior Dance Company. Then it was time for the Valedictory Address, given by Kenneth Usoh. Principal, Mrs. Grandchamps addressed everyone gathered at the South Shore Educational Complex for this very special occasion. Addressing her graduates was a preamble to the presentation of awards which was followed by a special performance by the Junior Dance Company.
Ms. Rhone officiated the presentation of the diplomas to the graduates, which was confirmed by Principal, Mrs. Grandchamps.
