Santa Visits Spring Creek Towers

By Amanda Moses

On Saturday, December 19th, Sisters With Purpose (SWP) hosted a food pantry and brought even more good tidings and cheer to the residents of Spring Creek Towers with a toy giveaway outside of the lower level of the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC).

The lower level of the BSC looked like a winter wonderland with remnants of snowfall covering the surrounding hedges and SWP volunteers wearing festive elf hats.

The holiday spirit was in full bloom as Spring Creek Towers’ Department of Public Safety Youth Officer, Charles Royster donned a Santa Suit and greeted residents and posed for socially distant photos.

“Everyone enjoyed the event very much. Seeing the smiles on the children and families’ faces warmed our hearts. It was extra special to have snow on the ground. It really got us in the Christmas spirit,” said SWP President, Susie Williams.

More than 250 participants shared time with “Santa” and his helpers. Families received a grab-and-go bag filled with toys, pajamas, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, coloring books, and candy.

SWP will host a food pantry every Saturday in January from 9 am to 10 am.  For more information see the SWP Food Pantry flyer on page 7.
