Spring Creek Towers’ (SCT) Saturday Academy is an academic enrichment program, whose primary goal is to increase participant competence to or beyond grade level. In addition, Saturday Academy incorporates curriculum preparation to help student’s performance in the Statewide and Citywide ELA and Math tests.

Instructors, Mr. Kyle Smith, focuses on reading and math with third graders and Mr. Matthew Williams, works with fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. In the virtual setting, the students are able to perform class work, and the instructors are able to monitor grades, and provide feedback in real time so that students are able to work on areas that need more attention and improvement.

Anjelica, a fifth grader in Mr. Williams’ class said, “I like this class and being on ZOOM because I can see my friends, and some of the lessons that we are learning, I didn’t learn in my regular class at school yet.”

The Saturday Academy Program assists students attending Abe Stark Primary School (PS) 346, Gateway Intermediate School (IS) 364 and Frederick Douglas Academy VIII in the third to sixth grades to achieve success on or above their grade level.

“It’s easier to understand the work in this class rather than regular school, it is easier to answer the Mr. Kyle Smith questions,” said Aidan, a fifth grader in Mr. Williams
class.

This program is offered in two sessions, fall and spring, each session lasting approximately 12 weeks.
