SCTA’s Fun Fridays Are A Hit

The Starrett City Tenants Association (SCTA) held its first Fun Friday on May 17th at the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC). This imitative is meant for residents to gather, get to know one another and what else-HAVE FUN! Residents must be a paid SCTA member in good standing to attend. The SCTA Fun Fridays will be held on the third Friday of the month.

The residents were treated to the sounds of Latin music, Oldies, Rhythm and Blues to create a relaxed, calm ambiance. Some attendees danced, while others mingled with neighbors they didn’t know.

In addition to the wonderful music, there were games that were played. The residents played cards, Rummikub, and Scrabble. Scrabble was a huge hit. Scrabble is a word game in where two to four players score points by placing tiles bearing a single letter onto a board divided into a 15×15 grid of squares. The tiles must form words that are read left to right in rows or downward in columns, and are included in a standard dictionary.

Rummikub is a tile-based game for 2 to 4 players, combining the elements of the card game rummy and mahjong.

Residents had so much fun, and are very excited for the next time. They already started planning for the next Fun Friday on June 21st where they would like to have Karaoke implemented.

SCTA President, Rebecca Caraballo was pleased with the turnout. “These residents are so excited; they want to do Karaoke next time. We are looking forward to having more residents attend our Fun Fridays,” said Caraballo.
