Skyline Cruise

In this one and a half hour cruise you will be able to relax and experience New York like you never have before. Luxurious views of the city can be seen from the open decks of the 1920s-style yachts! This cruise has a narrated tour by the captain, views of Battery Park, South Street Seaport, the Financial District, Governor’s island, The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, parts of the New York City skyline in Brooklyn and Queens, the Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges of the East River. Food is not served on the cruise, but you are allowed to bring your own.  Beer, wine, champagne, soda, juice or water and a full bar are available for you to purchase a beverage.

There are glassed in observatories with cushioned seating around conversation friendly tables. They are air conditioned in the summer and they provide great panoramic views.

Sistas The Musical

This new off Broadway musical, Sistas, centers on a family preparing to bury the matriarch of the family. These women discuss their family history and the history of African-American women through popular music that spans from the era of Billie Holiday’s music through Beyoncé. After the matriarch’s death, the women in the family clean their grandma’s attic and find some treasures which restore the love and memories that have been packed away. Some musical hits that you will hear include; “Oh Happy Day,” “Mama Said,” Gloria Gaynor’s ever-famous, “I Will Survive,” “Tyrone,” and “ A Woman’s Worth.”

The Rock and Roll Playhouse (RRPH) is a non-profit organization that presents musical education to children that they might not receive in school. Every weekend there will be a children’s music workshop this fall at the Brooklyn Bowl.  These workshops are designed to teach children about music while allowing the children to have fun at the same time. Workshops are 60 minutes long and are specifically designed for children 7 and under, but all members of the family are welcome at this family show. Tickets are $10 per person.  Kids will have a chance to learn about Reggae. This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy!

23rd Annual Bus Festival

The New York Transit Museum’s annual Bus Festival returns on Sunday, September 25! See and step aboard more than a dozen buses from the Museum’s vintage fleet, representing more than 80 years of New York City surface transit history. Alongside the festivities, there will be food, and fun. Throughout the day, admission to the Transit Museum will be just $1! The Museum will be open from 11am to 5pm, with last admission at 4:30pm.

Some of this year’s special guests include:

•“Betsy” – A Fifth Avenue Coach Company double decker bus, Betsy ran in Manhattan from 1931 until 1953. It was acquired by the Museum in 2004, and will be the oldest vehicle at the Bus Festival.

•Bus 3100 – A Fifth Avenue Coach Lines prototype bus, this vehicle debuted in 1956 as one of the first air-conditioned transit buses nationwide.

•Bus 9098 – Part of the last order of “Old Look” style buses from General Motors in 1958, this model introduced the two-tone green color scheme, which later became a standard for the era.

•Bus 100 – This 1959 bus was among the first group of vehicles to introduce the “New Look” style in New York City, featuring a large bubble-shaped “Fishbowl” windshield and a wider interior space than previous models
