Spring Creek Towers Community Mourns Passing of Beloved Resident

On Friday morning, May 1st, 2015 at 11:04 am, Jean Marilyn Holden quietly and peacefully passed over into the comfort of the LORD.

Jean was born on September 11, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, in a GOD-loving household to the late Samuel Franklin and Ellen Pierce Franklin.  Jean was the eldest of two children.

Jean attended the public school system in Brooklyn, NY; PS 129, JHS 57 and Franklin K. Lane High School.

Jean had a long career with the Tri-State Regional Planning Commission where she retired.  Once retired, still filled with youthful energy, she decided to continue working and started a new career as a Youth Counselor at the Brooklyn Sports Club, in Spring Creek and worked her way up to Operations Manager where she FINALLY retired.

jeanBAGS_8987 (2)Jean was very active within the community.  She was a member of the Onyx Club, the Starrett City Tenants Association and the Lions Club International organization and received may proclamations and accolades.

Jean’s pastimes were laughing, investing in electronic gadgets, travel, gardening, cook-outs, entertaining, sewing, shopping, organizing bus rides and other outings and participating in the Starrett City Flea Market.  She was very meticulous and liked everything in its place.  She was a “TREKKIE” and a “GLADIATOR”.  Anyone who knew Jean also knew that her family, friends and cats; Obi-One and Uno were very important to her.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved mother; Ellen, her two loving daughters; Adrian and Stephanie, her wife Helena, a selected Daughter; Sandra (Sandy), one grandson; Curtis Jr., a selected grandson; Jamal, her favorite and only brother; Edward (Butch), his wife Barbara, two nieces; Deeanna, her husband Fred, Iretha, two grand nephews; Miles and Cole, two god-daughters; Donna, her husband Leon, Denice, her husband Carlo, and a host of other family, friends, and associates.
