October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness and the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC) has been selling pink merchandise (t-shirts and face masks) and raffles to win a “goodie bag.” The BSC held a special “The Power of Pink” Zumba class to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday, October 24th. This class was held for members and their guests. There was a suggested donation of $10 to participate in the class. All of the proceeds from this class, and from the special BSC merchandise along with the raffles will go to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Foundation.
“My mom is a breast cancer survivor, and I am very proud to be able to bring this event to our community. We will be committed every year to spread awareness and bring our family together through our Power of Pink event,” said Arnie Gonzalez, Executive Director, Brooklyn Sports Club.
Andriana’s Zumba class was moving to the beats and working up a sweat for a good cause. (Zumba is an aerobic exercise that was created by Colombian dancer and choreographer, Alberto “Beto” Perez.) Although there were only five attendees in person, out on the outdoor deck, there were 35 participants virtually engaged through the Virtual Gym on Facebook, Brooklyn LIVE. All of the attendees enjoyed the class and were happy to take part for such a good cause.
“Thank you to all the people who attended, we had a great time dancing and exercising for a great cause. I want to thank Adrianna for bringing her energy and team to put together a great Zumba class for everyone to see virtually and in person,” said Hassan Caan, General Manager, Brooklyn Sports Club.
