On July 28th, the Brooklyn Sports Club (BSC) held an interactive open house for all to enjoy. Attendees were given free access to the facility, which features several exercise studios, an artificial turf decked out with state of the art equipment, various cardio and strength training machines, as well as numerous weights to try. Children attending the event with their parents were given free access to the indoor lap swimming pool and training swimming pool.
From the reception desk to the sundeck, every area of the BSC was decked out in balloons and intergalactic celebratory decorations welcoming all to the event. There were life-sized cardboard cutouts of Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Boba Fett and other Star Wars characters on the sundeck and reception area for science fiction fans to admire while they discussed membership applications and the different fitness schedules.
Over 120 people attended the extravagant affair, which offered delicious treats such as: Panera salads, Monster sugar free energy drinks, samples from UP4 Probiotic gummy bears, Coppertone sun lotion samples, various flavored ice pops, and 10 gallons of orange HIC provided by McDonald’s.
Visitors were able to see first-hand interactions between fitness instructors and clients, who help motivate, provide direction, and hold clientele accountable for following their regiments. The open house allowed people to learn about the importance of healthy eating and physical fitness in a professional atmosphere. The BSC offers members access to brand new: kettlebells, rubberized dumbbells, a motorized tire-lift, wall balls, and access to plyometric jump boxes, pull-up bars, and battle ropes. Veteran members or new clients are able to exercise on their own with no judgement from anyone or they can pay for a private fitness instructor. At the end of their workout, clients are able to relax in the steam and/or sauna room (s).
From 2:30 pm to 5 pm the BSC emanated with thumping music by DJ HASCAN (also known as Hassan Canaan the BSC General Manager) that had everyone on their feet dancing in the heat. Some revelers lounged in the shade on the sundeck, while others took a dip in the pool to beat the warm weather.
There were activities for the entire family to revel in. Children were able to have their faces painted and parents participated in dance demos with BSC Instructor Sterling. In addition to the fun, guests were able to see the various group exercise schedules that the BSC offers to its members, which includes: Boot Camp, Calypsocise, Circuit/Cardio interval, Core and More, core Pilates, cycling, Flex Fusion, Hatha Yoga, Human Movement, Zumba, Vinyasa Yoga, and so much more.
